In just a few hours, millions of roses and boxes of chocolate will be exchanged on Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, however, where there is passion and love, or just a bit of fun on the side, there can be some very undesirable consequences in the form of STDs if the correct preventative measures aren’t taken.
How fitting then, that Valentine’s Day has also been proclaimed National Condom Day, with public health officials hoping to use the designation to highlight the role condoms can play in potentially limiting the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and helping to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
One in four US adults infected with herpes. If you are the lucky “one”, please try not to have sex with someone who is having an outbreak. When the other does not have an outbreak…and she takes Valtrex…the chance of she passing it to you during oral is about 2%. If you want to lower that and use protection they do make something for that called dental dam (reebok had to explain to me what that was. lol). Its a latex sheet used during oral on female. you can also use a condom but cut it open so it lays flat. Or saran wrap but don’t know if that actually blocks virus.
If you are one of the unlucky three, those questions may make you crazy like how to disclose the secret, how to bring it up, what to say, how to convince him, When to do it…..etc. To make things worse valentine’s day is right around the corner….
Here are some suggestions from “experienced” people:
Tell him the truth, you can start by saying your caught a rash from your ex boyfriend and when he ask what kind you can explain it to him but whatever you do please don’t fall apart or cry because he is going to think it is something that can kill you and we all know this is really not a harmful virus. Have all of your facts ready for him and be ready to answer all of his questions.
Start with “ever had a cold sore?” then after he answers explain that you carry the virus that causes it but take meds to suppress it. Go into your statistics…call it HSV. Then as he gets comfortable with the conversation explain that it is a strain of the virus that causes chicken pox, shingles, and cold sores….also known as herpes simplex. If you throw out the word herpes too soon he may not hear anything else.
There may not be best answers for these questions, but the most easy way is to find a date at Herpes Dating Sites or STD Dating sites. No need to have the “Talk”. No judgement! No discrimination!
P.S.
Make your Valentine’s Day flare up a source of fun and merriment, not shame. All it takes is a little imagination and an STD – which you probably already have or can contract easily enough. Stay sexy, America.
1. Connect the Canker Sores – what zany design might you come up with next? Unicorn? Tulip? Rainbow? Fate will decide. Well, fate and how well you follow the directions on your medication.
Your handsome and humble servant –
2. Clue – The first person to trace back the origin of the herpes virus wins. Was it with Lester the Janitor – in the office – after hours?
3. Monopoly – Great for a particularly harsh flare up. Set up the board, label each canker sore. And round and round you go. Don’t forget to collect your $200 when you pass go.
